The Guides rescue me
There is a breed of pig called a 'Sandyback' also known as the Tamworth Pig. Our mascot is a little piglet. The Guides chose a few names and then took a vote and 'Snuffles' came out on top.
Snuffles escaped from a lorry taking him to a factory he hid in the dungeons at Tamworth Castle. The Guides rescued him on 10th September 2000 and then took him on a guided tour of the castle. He saw some of his cousins so had a chat with them before moving on. He soon wanted to see the outside world so the Guides took him for a walk outside.
He found a big stone seat, which he was told, was a Wishing Seat so he climbed on and made a wish. However, all this excitement made him very hungry so he returned to the castle market place and was served a tasty plate of fruit. With a full stomach he retired to the Great Hall and sat at the large fireplace to sleep it all off.
The Guides then took him on a tour of Tamworth; he saw a very impressive looking building so went in to have a look around. It was St.Edithas church; to round his day off they took him shopping to buy a blanket. The Guides took him to the Army and Navy stores to buy his very own camp blanket to sew all his badges on to. He even chipped in to the cost.
On his arrival at the first guide meeting the Guides decided he needed a name, so it was that he became 'snuffles' the unit mascot
