Harvey's Open Weekend
We went along to help out at the Harvey’s open weekend recently. Harvey’s is a local chandlery and boat builders. We met with many interesting people including a lady who had come all the way from New Zealand to spend some time in England. She used to be a Guide herself once.
We were there to raise funds for the narrow boat Tuptonia. We served the refreshments, ran a tombola stall and sold Tuptonias souvenirs.
Other participants at the open day included companies with accessories for narrow boats such as furniture, windows, paintings, and other accessories.
We watched Bob making Fenders; they’re just like giant scoobies. We talked to Jim about his canal paintings and we learned about the Lichfield and Hatherton Restoration Society. Other representatives were there from Elite Furniture and the Purple Ribbon Society
