Celebration 2007

I am a member of the Senior Patrol and applied for selection to an International Camp a few months ago. Not sure what to expect I attended an interview and selection weekend. The weekend was fun with activities and situations where team work and problem solving were included.
I was informed later that there were limited placements available and that I may not get an opportunity for the summer of 2007.
In May I received a phone call telling me that a place had become available for the trip to Celebration 2007 in New Jersey, America in the summer. I was so excited to be given this opportunity at this late stage. All I ad to do now was raise the £1400 needed for the trip. I quickly organized raffles, quizzes bag packing events and tombolas.
When I arrive in America I will have the opportunity to tour New York, receive home hospitality from an American family and attend the camp. I will get to meet girls from many other countries also attending. This is a once in a lifetime trip for me and I am so pleased to have been picked to go. By raising the money it gives you a sense of satisfaction and I feel I will value the experience more. It has been hard work in the short time span but there have been many local businesses and individual people who have made the goal more achievable for me.
I would like to take the opportunity of saying a big Thank You for the generosity that has been shown in donating prizes, supporting and taking part in my events and purchasing raffle tickets.
